Carly and Richard’s wedding was an absolute dream, held at one of my all-time favourite spots on Vancouver Island—Strathcona Provincial Park! Nestled in the heart of nature, this breathtaking location is accessed via the road that winds up to Mt. Washington Alpine Resort. The couple exchanged vows with the majestic snow-capped peaks of Mt. Albert Edward and Mt. Regan as their backdrop. The reception followed in a cozy, charming wooden lodge tucked on the edge of the park, where warmth and rustic elegance filled the air.

Being avid snowboarders, Carly and Richard were determined to have their wedding photos set in the snow—a request that was easy to fulfill, even in the sunny warmth of May. The snow was still abundant, and I got to experience it in all its glory (and hilarity)! I found myself postholing up to my mid-thigh, all while sporting Birkenstocks and hauling 30lbs of camera gear on my back. While it was a bit of a slippery workout, the cool snow was a welcome sight—and, of course, it provided some extra comedic relief, which, as always, is my specialty. Amazingly, the bride has no trouble navigating the deep snow in her dress and heels!

Dinner was a delicious experience, with a mouthwatering three-course plated meal served by the talented staff at Raven Lodge. The culinary delight was followed by a cake that was just as special—a gorgeous creation lovingly baked by the bride’s family. The sweet touch added an extra layer of meaning to the celebration, homespun features are my favourites!

As the night unfolded and the dance floor heated up, we took a quiet moment to sneak outside and capture some magical sunset shots before the sun dipped below the horizon. The result? A perfect end to an unforgettable day!
