Kate and Mairi hosted their Vancouver Island wedding at the French Beach Group Campsite on a blistery day in May. Approached on a winding road roughly 20 minutes West of Sooke BC and nestled in the trees beside the sprawling French Beach.

So many little details went into crafting what was the perfect wedding day for them. The couple spend months before the wedding creating the signage, name cards and buntings all by hand. Repurposed jars with tealights and little seashells scattered the picnic tables. Mairi’s mother is a potter and handmade tumblers for each guests to drink from for the night and then to take home! Both of the brides went a less traditional route with their outfits, Kate wearing black pants and a hand-embroidered western button-down with tassels and Mairi a green embroidered dress and pink velvet heels.

Many friends opted to camp in the small field right beside where the ceremony was going to be held and others staying nearby in the towns of Sooke and Shirley BC. After the ceremony a campfire burned, live music was enjoyed, and many pots of coffee were brewed. It was a wonderful laidback weekend of celebrating love in the outdoors!
